Leith-based whisky maker Woven has expanded its innovative approach to whisky blending by opening a one-of-a-kind blending studio in Hoxton, London. Located at 155 Hoxton Street, this contemporary whisky studio is the first of its kind outside Scotland and launched on 13 September.

Key Highlights:

  • Innovative Whisky Hub: The London studio will focus on whisky experimentation, blending creativity, education, and hands-on interaction.
  • Day and Night Dual Purpose:
    • Daytime: The studio serves as a blending lab, offering trade masterclasses for bartenders and other industry professionals.
    • Evening: The space transforms into an event hub, featuring whisky tastings, a Highball bar, and intimate retail experiences.
  • Personalized Whisky Creations: Whisky enthusiasts can craft their own unique blends, complete with custom labels, allowing for a truly personalized whisky experience.

A Creative Whisky Playground:

  • Lara Farrow, brand ambassador for Woven, described the space as a “creative playground for the whisky curious,” offering visitors the chance to explore new flavors and create their own custom whisky blend.

Borderless Whisky Philosophy:

  • Founded in 2021, Woven embraces a ‘borderless’ philosophy, blending whiskies from around the world to create diverse and exciting flavor profiles. The Hoxton studio continues this vision, pushing the boundaries of whisky-making by exploring new possibilities beyond traditional Scotch production.

  • Peter Allison, co-founder of Woven, explained: “We’re focused on discovering what’s possible in whisky, not just preserving tradition. Opening a studio in London allows us the creative freedom to experiment, especially with the growing whisky scene in England.”

Collaborations and Events:

  • International Partnerships: The London studio will collaborate with whisky bars and distilleries worldwide, including:
    • The Gate in Glasgow
    • Cut Your Wolf Loose in Brighton
    • Thomson Whisky in New Zealand
    • White Peak Distillery in Yorkshire
  • Whisky Highball Bar: Every Friday, the studio will open its Whisky Highball bar, offering a fresh twist on classic whisky cocktails.

Expanding the Whisky Community:

  • Building a Community: Peter Allison highlighted the importance of creating a space where whisky lovers and flavor explorers can come together. “This is more than just a studio—it’s a place where ideas, creativity, and the love of whisky collide.”
