Kavalan Releases Exclusive Grand Reserve No 1 and No 2 for Lotte Duty Free
Kavalan has unveiled two exclusive single malt expressions, Grand Reserve No 1 and No 2, for global travel retail. Both expressions are matured in Kavalan’s signature ‘Vinho’ wine casks, which undergo the STR (Shave, Toast, Rechar) technique, a process pioneered by the late Dr. Jim Swan during his collaboration with the brand in its early years.
The Grand Reserve series showcases the artistry of STR casks, blending whisky aged in these casks with those matured in Spanish and Portuguese fortified wine casks.
Grand Reserve No 1 features whisky aged in Vinho wine casks combined with amontillado sherry cask-matured whisky. The result is a whisky with delightful flavors of apricot jam, dried berries, and caramel cream.
Meanwhile, Grand Reserve No 2 is crafted by blending whisky from the Vinho wine casks with Madeira and ruby port casks. This expression offers a rich, fruity profile with distinct candied fruit notes.
Both Grand Reserve No 1 and No 2 are bottled at 40% ABV and are exclusively available through Lotte Duty Free.
